What is 4G?

4G

Everywhere we turn these days. We are faced with new technologies having a good mobile phone is just not enough? It’s essentially useless without a decent data connection. You need mobile data – 2G and 3G – in today’s modern world, whether it’s for checking your email, working remotely of posting pics and comments on Facebook. We want more speed and this is where 4G comes into play.

4G fourth-generation of cellular wireless standard. 4G is a technology that will transform wireless communications in a completely new way. 4G is the next generation after 3G.

Here is the detail snap shot of New generations appeared about every decade or so since the first 1980s to 2010s

4G provides a comprehensive and secure IP (Internet Protocol) solution. Users will enjoy a wide variety of new services including HD video (high definition video), and high quality voice and high-data-rate wireless channels. 4G technology will not only be used for cellular telephone systems, but will also include several types of wireless broadband access communication systems.

4G Technology

With a higher data rate and broader bandwidth capability, 4G technology will focus on providing seamless service across a multitude of wireless networks and systems. There are two technologies may employed by 4G technology that are being considered by mobile network providers at present, and these are LTE(Long Term Evolution) 4G technology and WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) 4G technology. These two types of 4G technology offer similar features and benefits although the technology itself is very different. At present providers have not decided which of these two types of 4G technology they will be deploying, but they are currently conducting trials of both. At present the favored type of 4G technology appears to be LTE, although a range of factors will have to be considered before providers make any definitive decision with regards to which of the two types of 4G technology they finally select.

The goal set by ITU for data rates of WiMAX and LTE is to achieve 100Mbps when the user is moving with high speed relative to the base station, and 1Gbps for fixed positions.

·         The LTE provides downstream peak rates of at least 100 Mbps, an upstream of at least 50 Mbps

·         WiMAX download rates are at 10Mbps and 70Mpbs theoretical maximum, but the upcoming standards shall make its data rates as competitive as LTE.

4G FEATURES

4G provides a comprehensive and secure IP (Internet Protocol) solution. The 4G technology is also developed to meet QoS (Quality of Service) and rate requirements that involve prioritization of network traffic to ensure good quality of services.  Users will enjoy a wide variety of new services such as the following

Wireless Broadband Internet Access

MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service)

Video Chat

Mobile Television

HDTV (High Definition TV)

DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting)

Real Time Audio

High Speed Data Transfer
