Google Chrome Remote Desktop BETA app


Google has unveiled a remote desktop service allowing connections between any two systems running the Chrome browser, regardless of operating system. Remote desktop technology certainly is nothing new, but Google’s is free, and extremely easy to set up. You can use Chrome to invite someone to access your computer remotely, using the Chrome Remote Desktop BETA app from the Chrome Web Store. This is useful when you need help solving a computer problem, It is currently being targeted at IT helpdesk scenarios.

The great thing about Chrome Remote Desktop extension is that it is cross-platform solution, so now doesn’t matter which operating system the other person or you are using, and it is a lot simpler. All you need is your Google Chrome web browser and being capable of taking control and share your screen.

Check out the following step-by-step guide:

1. Browse Chrome Remote Desktop app page in the Chrome Web Store. (if you don’t have Google Chrome please install it first).



2. On Chrome Remote Desktopclick on Add to Chromebutton. A pop up will come asking for confirmation. Press Install.

3. Once the app has been installed, a new tab will open and the app's icon will appear in the Apps section of the page.
 


4. While accessing application for first time on your system it will ask for authorization. Press Continue



5. Following screen will appear asking for confirmation (if you are not logged in your Google account; login prompt will come before this screen). Press Allow Access“.



6. Now click on Share This Computerwhen following window will appear to share your computer screen with someone.



7. Allow sometime to chrome to “generate a 12 digit access code” for your computer (this code will be generated every time you will share your desktop)



8. Following screen will come which will show your “12 digit access code”. Share this code with the person you want to share your desktop.



9. On another system follow step 1 to 4 to install and when you get “Share This Computer” screen click on “access a shared computer below the button.



10. Enter the “12 Digit Access code” of the shared computer



11. You are now connected to remote computer.




Once your friend enters the access code, the sharing session will begin and he or she will be able to see your computer screen. You can click Stop sharing or press Ctrl+Alt+Esc (Mac: Shift-Esc) at any time to end the session.
When you use the app to share your computer with someone, that person will have full control of your computer and access to your applications, emails, files, documents, and history. Share with caution.
